Smack Down is the name it has always been known as since its inception on 29th of April in 1999 when it made its first appearance as a television special on the channel UPN. In August of same year it made an official debut through the same channel at the venue of the Kansas City, Missouri. It was recorded on Tuesdays and later broadcasted on Thursdays of the same week.
