Minnesota was always a source for specialist, amateur and hockey. Professional hockey was a foundation in Minneapolis in 1967 when extension Minnesota North Stars joined NHL. First year for Wild was unfortunate as they were at the bottom of the Northwest divison with a 25-39-13-5 record for 63 points. Second year was comparatively better during the regular season with a 26-35-12-9 record for 73 points and were out of the contest for the second time in a row. 2002-03 Season was the turning year for Lemaire’s team. Marion Gaborik came into himself as an individual beside Pascal Dupuis with goaltender Manny Fernandez and Dwayne Rooson to get a respectable place in NHL for regular season. They ended up with a third place in Northwest division with a 42-29-10-1 record and 95 points. They played against Patrick Roy and the inspirational Colorado Avalanche in the first round of Stanley Cup contest. Conditions were not going favorable for Wild as they were losing by 3-1 to the Avalache. But they played hard in the next two games they managed to level the series by 3-3. Richard Park scored a decisive goal in game seven in Denver. Their win resulted in a tie between them and the Vancouver Canucks in the second round of Stanley Cup contest. It was exactly like repeating the history when Minnesota were losing by 3-1 to Vancouver Canucks, no team had ever came back from such position in one year but Wilds had something else in their minds and they came back and tied the series again by 3-3. After playing extra ordinarily Wilds were a step back when they lost to Mighty Ducks in straight four plays.
