Fans of football in Ohio have been buying Cleveland Browns tickets since 1950. These same fans can boast three league championships and seven divisional titles from 1950 to 1962 under the guidance of head coach Paul Brown. Fans in Cleveland will also tell you stories about Jim Brown, the famous running back who harnessed eight rushing titles in nine years. But these loyal fans who have been eating up Cleveland Browns tickets cannot lay claim to one particular feat--the Cleveland Browns have never played in a Super Bowl.
The Browns' early dominance came before the first Super Bowl was played in 1967. Even in the mid 1980s, when quarterback Bernie Kosar led the squad to three AFC Championship games, the Browns lost--each time to the rival Denver Broncos. But fans in Cleveland are not disappointed. Fans in Cleveland are still buying Cleveland Browns tickets. Fans in Cleveland know that there's a Super Bowl out there with their name on it.
One of the oldest teams in all of football, the Cleveland Browns are definitely the current underdogs of the NFL. After five losing seasons leading up to 1995, their owner, Art Modell, announced that the team would be moving to Baltimore. That team became the Baltimore Ravens--the same Ravens who won Super Bowl XXXV in 2001. But as soon as they had left the NFL, Cleveland felt the void and gave permission for investors to start up a new Browns team using the same colors and memorabilia.
Cleveland Browns tickets went back on sale immediately and a completely new team was formed. Local and loyal fans are still showing up to games. The Cleveland Browns may be in the middle of a growth spurt and an awkward stage, but this too shall pass. Their loyalty having paid off, I think those fans with the Cleveland Browns tickets will soon get the chance to purchase ones for the Super Bowl.

1999- now, Cleveland Browns; NFL
Cleveland Browns is a professional football team that is amongst the six teams in the Central Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) of the National Football League (NFL). After the league’s realignment plan, which took effect in 2002, the Browns play in the Northern Division of the AFC. They were moved to Baltimore where they acquired the new name Baltimore Ravens in 1996. In 1998 the teams ownership was changed to that of a group of investors that was led by a businessman named Al Lerner and a former San Franciscan Carmen Policy. Their team color of orange, brown and white was retained as they rejoined NFL in following year. Cleveland Browns Stadium is the team’s home ground.
The former Browns were one of NFL’s most successful teams that posted just 12 lost records during its 46 seasons. They became a charter member of the AAFC in 1946, and Paul Brown was appointed the head coach and the general manager for the team. Under his management the team bagged three league championships and seven division titles during 1950-1962. One of its runners Jim Brown, who was amongst the best runners in the professional football history, captured eight rushing titles during his career that spanned nine years.
They managed to make seven playoff and three AFC championship appearances in the 1980’s. They were dominant in the AAFC and lost four consecutive season games while they won all the championships that were held during the league’s four year existence. Several of their players were future Hall of Famers. They became members of NFL in 1950 and emerged as one of their best teams. In the same year Motley rushed the team into 810 yards, and the team bagged first of their division crowns and the NFL title. They recorded six straight victories. The team’s strong offense led them to two NFL titles in 1954 and 1955.
Post 1955 season Brown bagged the MVP award and retired with total 12,312 career rushing yards. His replacement Leroy Kelly became the key offensive threat and bagged the rushing championship titles in 1967 and 1968. They won the division titles but lost the championship games in 1968 and 1969 however their dominance came to an end in the 1970s when their playoff appearances led to disappointing first-round losses and they failed to mark a notable victory in the postseason during 1973-1979.
All these matches built a healthy rivalry amongst the two. After five consecutive lost seasons in their last six years in Cleveland their movement to Baltimore was announced by the team owner. But before the movement took place they were granted the status of a team and were given rights to the Browns’ name, color and insignia by the NFL.
In February 1999, the Browns drafted several veteran players. They drafted quarterback Tim Couch who was a former University of Kentucky player. They had a struggling first season which they finished at a record of 2-14. To date the Cleveland Browns have never played in the Super Bowl.
