Oilers did well in winning two Stanley Cups in a row. Doug Gilmour was brought in 1988-89 and Flames arrangement was splintered by Theo Fleury. They traveled to Vancouver, Los Angeles and Chicago to meet famous Montreal Canadiens in Stanley Cup final. Next year when every thing was favorable for the flames player Revolt became the reason of departure of Terry Crisp and foundation of the team was shattered. Doug Risebrough came next but Edmonton Oilers defeated them in the first round of the contest. Cliff Fletcher left Calgary and joined Toronto after nineteen successful years. Gary Roberts and Sergei Makarov did well in 1992 contests but to no avail. A year after Dave King, coach of Canadian national team joined Calgary and implemented his defending strategy. In the beginning, Flames had only a few young players in their side. Dallas landed Jerome Iginla played a vital role in foundations of the team. Iginla played splendidly but Flames got carried on with financial issues. Canadian dollar Inflation, increasing salaries and no strong revenue stream being the major reason for financial issues.
