Their home ground is in the suburbs of Orchard Park where they play most of their games. But since then they have failed to mark a championship victory since 1965. However to date they are the only team who have belted four consecutive American Football Conference Championships. The history of this team dates back to the 60’s, when it commenced play as a chartered member of the American Football League (AFL), where they managed to bag two AFL titles in the year 1964 and 1965. Later it became a part of the NFL after the AFL-NFL merger that took place in 1970. They have the honor of being the only team ever who made it to four straight Super Bowls, but eventually lost all of them. Pre 1969 season, the Bills drafted O.J. Simpson and made him the face of the franchise all through the 1970s. After the Bills inclusion in National Football League (NFL) as a result of the AFL-NFL merger Simpson was voted as the player of the year for his outstanding performance. The team also got its first winning record since 1965.their quarterback was Joe Ferguson. In 1983 Joe Ferguson was replaced by Kelly whereas things weren’t going for the team and they posted a record of 2-14 record during 1984-1985. Though the beginning of the season did not yield any fruitful results, after an injury suffered by Johnson he was replaced by Flutie. This turned out to be fortunate for the team as Flutie led them a playoff appearance at a record of 10-6. They were defeated by the Miami Dolphins in the playoff game despite a receiving playoff record of 240 that was set by Eric Moulds. Flutie's popularity continued to rise and in 1999 the team posted a winning record of 11-5 but still finished a couple of games behind the Colts in the AFC Eastern standing. But in spite of his outstanding performance Flutie was replaced by Rob Johnson as the new quarterback for the team in the playoff game against the Tennessee Titans. The Bills successfully scored a last minute goal to earn a 16-15 lead. In 2001 Gregg Williams took over as head coach for the team. it proved to be a disastrous move. Rob Johnson was unfortunately injured and replaced by Van Pelt. The Bills were defeated by their counterparts the "Bills West", which was led by Flutie.
